The Village of Downers Grove's electronic recycling program has ended due to growing costs. The Village of Westmont will be working with DuPage County and other entities to identify or establish ongoing or new electronics recycling programs for residents.

College of DuPage board votes to terminate Breuder's contract

Robert Breuder’s six-year tenure as president of the College of DuPage (COD) ended after its Board of Trustees voted on Tuesday to terminate his employment. His termination was the result of the college finding evidence of misconduct and mismanagement, which Breuder participated in, oversaw or failed to prevent, the board said.

Lisle releases September mosquito-activity report

Lisle Township recently posted a mosquito status report for September. The report indicated much of the Chicago area was impacted by three to four major floodwater mosquito-annoyance periods. "The above-normal temperature pattern, including three days in the 90s and 15 days at 80 degrees or above, created ideal conditions for the mosquitoes to be a significant factor," the report said.

Naperville residents warned to beware utility-payment phone scam

Phone scams are on the rise in Naperville lately, with more and more residents filing complaints with the Naperville Police Department. Some recent scams involve residents receiving calls from people pretending to be Naperville city employees attempting to collect on an outstanding utility bill.

Active-shooter drill to train first-responders held at Wheaton College
