State Representative Amy Grant recently paid a visit to the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Lisle, Illinois. UTI is a renowned private learning institution that specializes in automotive, diesel, and industrial machine training. With a campus in DuPage County since 1988, UTI has been providing valuable training to aspiring mechanics from Illinois and the Midwest for over three decades.

During her tour of the facility, Rep. Grant had the opportunity to witness firsthand how UTI prepares students for careers in various fields, including automotive and diesel engine repair, robotics, and wind turbine maintenance. Impressed by the institution's dedication to connecting young adults with skilled job opportunities, Grant stated, "UTI's commitment is part of the solution to solving Illinois' workforce struggles."

Rep. Grant also expressed her enthusiasm for future collaborations with UTI. She plans to attend the institution's Women in STEM event, which is held multiple times throughout the year to support high school girls interested in these fields. Additionally, she looks forward to UTI's First Robotics Competition scheduled for early 2024. Grant emphasized the importance of supporting such events, as they play a crucial role in nurturing young talent and strengthening Illinois' workforce.

As a State Representative for House District 47, Rep. Grant serves on several committees, including Adoption & Child Welfare, Elementary & Secondary Education: Administration, Licensing & Charter Schools, Foster Care Placement Subcommittee, Housing, Judiciary – Criminal, Juvenile Justice and System Involved Youth Subcommittee, and Mental Health & Addiction. The 47th district encompasses several communities in DuPage County, including Naperville, Warrenville, Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Lisle, Carol Stream, Bartlett, West Chicago, Winfield, and Wayne.

Rep. Grant's visit to UTI highlights the institution's significant contributions to the training and development of skilled professionals in the automotive and industrial sectors.
