Wheaton Police report arrests and crime incidents for May 4–10, 2026
The Wheaton Police Department released its weekly summary of arrests and crime incidents for the period of May 4 through May 10, 2026.
During this week, several individuals were arrested on various charges. Frank P. Burdi, age 36, of Bloomingdale was arrested for battery at 51 Town Square on May 9 at 6:39 p.m. He was released with a notice to appear later that evening. Brandon D. Lawrence, age 38, of Naperville was taken into custody on a warrant at 900 West Liberty Drive on May 8 at 8:39 p.m., and transferred to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office shortly after his arrest.
Other arrests included Flavia G. Robles Mancada, age 24, of Aurora for driving under the influence (DUI) near Butterfield Road and Naperville Road in the early morning hours of May 7; Alina S. Kivenas, age 25, of Batavia also for DUI near Lambert Road and Butterfield Road late on May 6; Jacqueline P. Seiler, age 41, of Wheaton on a warrant at her residence; Carlos Valdez, age 41, of Melrose Park for aggravated DUI as well as driving while license suspended and transportation of open alcohol by driver; Steve D. Malinowski, age 42, from Chicago for possession of a controlled substance; and Maurice J. Schell, age 71, from Wheaton for DUI along with operating an uninsured motor vehicle and damage to city property.
The police department also reported several crimes during this period including multiple thefts involving bicycles taken from secured locations such as Wheaton College storage lockers and train depot racks between May 1–4; financial fraud via Facebook Marketplace in the area around County Farm Road; forgery involving forged checks sent to a business with subsequent bank account hacking near Manchester Road; burglary to motor vehicle where an unknown person broke into a car on President Street between May 9–10 manipulating its ignition system; and motor vehicle theft from parking lots including one incident reported at College Train Depot.
The department reminded residents that all complaints listed contain only charges, which are not proof of guilt: "Constitutionally, a defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt." Residents with information about these or other crimes are encouraged to submit anonymous tips through the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office website.
