Addison reported one scam in June 2026, placing it among 157 cities tied for 81st out of 237 Illinois cities with at least one BBB Scam Tracker report, according to Better Business Bureau.
There were no scam reports listed for the city in the previous month.
The report showed a $50.98 loss from an online purchase scam. The description says the reporting individual bought a lip balm plumper, did not receive the product and received conflicting responses from the company.
BBB Scam Tracker lets consumers search reported scams and share their experiences to help others recognize similar schemes. The BBB says it reviews each report before publication and does not publicly display the reporter’s name or personal contact information.
Fraud reports have continued to involve large financial losses nationwide. The Federal Trade Commission said consumers reported losing more than $12.5 billion to fraud in 2024, a 25% increase from the previous year.
