The Wheaton Police Department released its weekly arrests and crime report for the period of May 11 through May 17, according to a June 3 statement. The report details several arrests and incidents within the city during this time frame.

Ezra D. Eby, age 19, of Lombard, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence at Naperville Road and Butterfield Road on May 17 at approximately 4:12 a.m. Eby was released with a notice to appear later that morning.

Daniel J. Wiekert, age 38, of Naperville, was arrested on May 16 at Roosevelt Road and Gables Boulevard around 4:16 a.m., facing charges including driving under the influence and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Wiekert received a notice to appear and was discharged just after 7:00 a.m.

Elena M. Suski, age 57, of Wheaton, was arrested on multiple charges including fleeing and eluding a police officer, speeding more than thirty-five miles per hour over the limit, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. The arrest occurred at Butterfield Road and Fountain Square Drive on May 15 shortly after eleven in the morning; Suski was taken to DuPage County Sheriff's Office custody by late afternoon.

The department also reported various crimes during this period such as thefts from gym lockers in the Wheaton Center area; two separate identity theft cases involving unauthorized checking account openings or purchases; retail thefts from TJ Maxx stores in Danada Square West; graffiti found at locations including North Hale Street and South Cross Street parking garage stairwells; credit card fraud following wallet thefts; as well as other property damage incidents.

The public is reminded that all complaints listed contain only charges, which are not proof of guilt. "Constitutionally, a defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt," said officials in both arrest notices accompanying the release.

Residents with information about these or other crimes are encouraged to use Anonymous Crime Tips (ACT), allowing tips via text message or email without revealing their identity through communication with DuPage County Sheriff's Office.
