Naperville city councilman Josh McBroom comments on the sudden decrease of illegal immigrants moving into the Chicago area after his suggestion that affluent residents in the suburbs sign up to house those that the city could not.

“After a steady flow of migrant busses coming through Chicago suburbs- 6 through Naperville- it seems to have come to a halt in January,” McBroom said in a post on X. “Right around same time a national discussion was taking place about affluent suburban communities possibly housing migrants. Coincidence?”

At the Jan. 16 Naperville City Council Meeting, McBroom suggested the city create a "sign up sheet" whereby residents who support illegal immigration to the Chicagoland area could volunteer to house now homeless illegal aliens to live with them. "We hear from people that we should do more,” McBroom said. “We do have a very affluent community, a lot of big homes.”

After the fact, McBroom was a guest on Dan Proft’s Chicago Morning Answer radio show where he said he was yet to receive a single name on the sign up sheet, reported DuPage Policy Journal

McBroom earned his Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University. He and his wife Emily settled in Naperville in 2001. McBroom is a Financial Advisor and owner of McBroom Financial Group in Naperville. He was elected to the Naperville city council in 2023. His current council term ends in 2027.
