Q3 2022 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Cook County?

There were 1,579 offenders living in Cook County released on parole during the third quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by DuPage Policy Journal.

The data shows 1,509 men and 70 women were released in Cook County. Of the parolees, 12 were veterans, and the median age was 33. The youngest parolee was a 19-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2022, and the oldest was a 85-year-old man sentenced for homicide in 2011.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Nathaniel Hart. He was convicted of homicide in 1984 when he was 20 years old. He is now 59.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
