Several events took place in downtown Westmont on October 18 as part of the 2025 Wicked West Fest, including the Trick-or-Treat Trail, Pumpkin Smashing Extravaganza, Costume Contest, and Casket Races.

The Pumpkin Smashing Extravaganza was coordinated by the Westmont Environmental Improvement Committee. Representatives from various Village departments, public agencies, and community organizations participated by decorating pumpkins and attempting to hit a target from 20 feet in the air using a Westmont Fire Department ladder truck. Contestants were judged on accuracy, debris splatter, decorations, and other factors. The event aimed to promote the upcoming annual Pumpkin Composting collection event scheduled for November 8 at the Westmont Library.

Winners of the Pumpkin Smashing Extravaganza included Sam Basalone of the Westmont Fire Department as Pumpkin Smashing King, Jenny Babyar of Village of Westmont Communications as Pumpkin Smashing Queen, Kaili Harding of the Westmont Chamber of Commerce received honorable mention for Biggest Splatter, and Steve Riley, Westmont Fire Chief, was recognized as Pumpkin Smashing Legend. Photos from the event are available in the Village of Westmont website photo gallery.

The Caskets on Cass Race was hosted by the Westmont Chamber of Commerce and featured four teams. First place went to Nick Pitzer State Farm, second to Dynamic Perception Dance Company, third to Kiwanis Club of Downers Grove, and the Westmont Senior Resource Group received recognition for Best Decoration Theme as well as finishing last. The Wicked West Fest Costume Contest was organized by the Westmont Special Events Corporation and had over 150 participants. All participants received ribbons, with medals awarded to the top three costumes in each category. Event photos have been published on the Westmont Special Events / Stanley Jamburger Facebook page.
