There were 82 offenders living in Kane County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by DuPage Policy Journal.

The data shows 72 men and 10 women were released in Kane County. The median age of the parolees was 34. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2021, and the oldest was a 65-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving alcohol in 2021.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Edward Edwardsen. He was convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2004 when he was 21 years old. He is now 40.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
