Mayor Steve Nero and Deputy Police Chief Mike Weibler recently met with students from Manning School’s C.A.N. (Care About Neighbors) Wellness Club to discuss community issues. The student-led club focuses on caring for neighbors and promoting a positive mindset through advocacy and discussion of local concerns.
During the meeting, Mayor Nero explained the functions of the Mayor’s Office and outlined the responsibilities of the Village municipality. The conversation then turned to topics such as homelessness, animal abuse, and bullying. Students worked in small groups to brainstorm potential solutions for these issues.
“I’m extremely impressed with these young people who care so much about the community,” said Mayor Nero. “I want to thank C.A.N. Club Advisors Rachel Stec and Nancy Bartosz for inviting the Village to come and be part of this meeting.
