Dupage Policy Journal

There were 47 offenders living in Dupage County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by DuPage Policy Journal.

The data shows 46 men and one woman were released in Dupage County. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 34. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving one or more weapons in 2021, and the oldest was a 65-year-old man sentenced for a sex crime in 2010.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Steve Thompson. He was convicted of homicide in 1997 when he was 27 years old. He is now 53.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
