The Elmhurst University women's basketball team fell on the road at Millikin University dropping the contest 85-58.
The Bluejays sole lead of the game came in the opening 17 seconds off of a Kate Matthews bucket in the paint.
The Big Blue led at the end of the first quarter 29-16 and was able to extend its lead to 21 by halftime.
Millikin headed to the locker room with a dominant 48-27 lead over the Bluejays.
The Big Blue only outscored Elmhurst 37-31 in the second half, but the deficit from the first half was too great for the Bluejays to overcome.
Matthews led the way for Elmhurst with 14 points and six rebounds. Taylor Harazin added in nine points, while Cate Boling added in eight of her own. Both Katie Matrise and Chloe Conley chipped in seven points each in the loss.
Millikin boasted four players in double figures. Elyce Knudsen scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed five rebounds. Jordan Hildebrand shot 8-of-8 from the field and finished with 17 points, while teammate Bailey Coffman added in 12 points and six boards. Sophie Darden came off the bench for the Big Blue and scored 10 points in the victory.
The Big Blue outshot the Bluejays 51.6 percent (33-of-64) to 42.9 percent (18-of-42) from the field.
Elmhurst fared better from behind the arc connecting on 42.9 percent (6-of-14) compared to Millikin's 14.3 percent (2-of-14).
The Bluejays shot 76.2 percent (16-of-21) from the foul line, while the Big Blue shot 60.7 percent (17-of-28).
Elmhurst closes out its 2021-22 season at Carthage College on Saturday, February 19 at 2 p.m.
