Five CCIW men’s tennis teams earn national academic honors from ITA

Five men’s tennis teams from the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) have been named All-Academic Teams by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), with 40 student-athletes recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes, according to an announcement made on July 23.

The CCIW programs earning ITA Division III Men’s All-Academic Team honors are Augustana, Carroll, Carthage, Illinois Wesleyan, and Wheaton. To receive this distinction, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 for the academic year. All varsity letter winners are included in the calculation and all student-athletes must be listed on the institutional eligibility form.

Individually, 40 CCIW men’s tennis players were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. This recognition requires a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the academic year and inclusion on their institution’s eligibility list.

Across Division III men’s tennis in 2025, a total of 1,115 student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes and 135 programs received All-Academic Team honors.

Augustana had ten athletes recognized: Santiago Diaz, Arthur Hermange, Tomas Jimenez, Gabo Luna, Arthur Mendes, Grant Meyers, Nico Navarro, Tim Philip, Saman Rezaeyan, and Kay Woldringh.

Carroll saw five athletes honored: Tyler Eberle, Adrian Gomez, Andrew LaBelle, Ryan LaBelle, and Braeden Possin.

Carthage had eleven athletes listed: Elios Briand, Marco Czosnyka, Cyriac Cayuela, Cooper Ferruzzi, Daniel Jaworski, Myles Krzewinski, Finnian Morris, Luka Okino, Victor Pimenta, Diego Silva and Francisco Silveira.

Illinois Wesleyan was represented by Thad Dillow, Griffin Hammond, Ryan McCoy, Chase Tomecki, Ian Turnbull and Ben Vigneri.

North Central also had five honorees: Matthew Crossland, Rafael Lessa, Justin Penados, Henry Ros and Philipp Wottgen.

Wheaton's recipients were David Hill,Tobias Schmidt,S amuel Schutz ,Timothy Steiner ,Corin Tang ,Ryder Ward ,Evan Walther ,and Jacob Williams .

Maureen Harty Executive Director of the College Conference Of Wisconsin And Illinois said in a statement: "To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form."

She added: "To be named an ITA All-Academic Team programs have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form,and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year."
