Marquardt School District 15 students suspended 268 times in a single school year

Marquardt School District 15 reported 268 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 268 students during the year. That equates to 10.2 percent of the 2,623 students enrolled.

Of the 208 in-school suspensions, 148 were given to boys and 60 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 107 incidents. There were 96 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 179 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 60 out-of-school suspensions, 32 were given to boys and 28 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 36 incidents. There were 18 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 34 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
