Deadline approaching for Gone Fishin' Derby

The deadline for registration for the annual Gone Fishin' Derby in Glen Ellyn is June 10, according togepark.org.

The Derby will take place from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at Lake Ellyn Park. The event is catch-and-release fishing in which attendees can catch as many fish in an hour as they want. Trophies will be earned in several categories, including largest and smallest fish caught, most fish and best-dressed participant. 

All ages are welcome to participate; children with their own adult supervision can compete. 

The Derby has 50 spots available. Costs are $10 for each participant who is a resident and $15 for each nonresident. Cost for bait and snacks are included in the fees. Fishing poles will not be provided by the Glen Ellyn Park District.
