Five track and field athletes from the College of DuPage placed eighth or better in their events at the National Junior College Athletic Association Indoor Championships held March 3-4 in Pittsburg, Kansas.
According to a news release on CoD's website, Torrain Haughton took third place in the 800-meter run in a time of 1 minute, 52.8 seconds, which was a season-best result for him. Nate Wesolek went 15 feet, 3 inches in the pole vault, which was good for fifth place.
In the relays, Haughton joined Brendan Vazquez, Peyton Chapman and Marco Martinez on the medley team that took eighth place. Individually, season-best times were turned in by Chapman, who finished in 1:59 in the 800-run portion, and Martinez, who crossed the finish line in 4:28 in the 1,600 run.
The outdoor track season for CoD will begin March 31 at the Big Blue Classic in Charleston, Illinois.
