The College of DuPage (CoD) will host the 2016 Food Truck Rally and Sunset 5K on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The event will feature 15 Chicago and DuPage food trucks from noon to 8 p.m. Other activities include a kid zone from noon to 5 p.m. that will include games, face painting, and emergency vehicles, grounds equipment and semi-tractor trailers to climb on.
The band Tributosaurus will perform beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Children ages 12 and younger can participate in the 100-yard youth dash, which starts at 4 p.m. at the football-stadium track. The race will have divisions for ages 4-7 and 8-12.
The 5K, which starts at 5 p.m., will have awards including a $200 Visa gift card to the top overall finishers in the male and female divisions. The top three female and male finishers will receive medals, and each runner will be eligible to win an iPad.
Prizes also will be awarded to the fastest team and “luck of the draw.” Each runner will receive prizes such as a $2 food-truck voucher, a T-shirt and a gift bag.
Advance registration costs $19.67, which stands for the year the College of DuPage opened. Participants ages 5-12 and 60 and older can run for $10 each. CoD students can participate for $5 with certain limitations, and the youth-dash fee is $5. Those who recruit three additional participants at $10 each will get free race admission to the 2017 event. Proceeds from this event will benefit the CoD's Fuel Pantry.
