Rep. Jennifer Sanalitro (R-48th) cast a Yes vote for SB3208, legislation amending the definition of implement of husbandry in the Illinois Vehicle Code during the 104th General Assembly on May 31, 2026, according to the Illinois House. The measure was approved by the House on a 117-0 vote.

The official summary of the bill describes it as "VEH CD-HUSBANDRY IMPLEMENT DEF."

The outline below draws from the official bill text and may be interpreted to clarify the legislative intent.

Fundamentally, the legislation changes the Illinois Vehicle Code’s description of “implement of husbandry.” It increases the gross weight limit from 36,000 pounds to 80,000 pounds for farm wagons, wagon trailers and comparable vehicles. Farm vehicles used solely for agriculture, horticulture, or livestock purposes that exceed the new 80,000-pound weight are no longer considered implements of husbandry, revising eligibility for agricultural equipment classification. This law takes effect immediately upon enactment.

The legislative record shows SB3208 was taken up as 'Third Reading - Short Debate - Passed.'

Sanalitro, a member of the Republican Party, was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to serve the 48th House District, following the tenure of former representative Terra Costa Howard.

Illinois state legislation undergoes a multi-stage legislative path involving introduction in the House or Senate, committee consideration, chamber debates, and votes before the measure advances to the governor’s office. The General Assembly meets every two years, and although numerous bills are introduced during each session, only a select number advance to become law.
