DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres announced that Judge Brian Jacobs has denied pre-trial release for a Cook County man allegedly found in possession of a loaded gun at a Naperville recreation facility. The defendant, Gary Howard, 20, appeared in court charged with one count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, a Class 4 Felony.

Chicago man denied pre-trial release in Bensenville gas station robbery case
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Bensenville Chief of Police Dan Schulze announced that Judge Leah Bendik granted the State’s motion to deny pre-trial release for a Chicago man accused of robbing a Bensenville gas station at knifepoint. The accused, Willie Weaver, 47, of the 2400 block of W. Adams Street appeared in First Appearance Court charged with one count of Armed Robbery, a Class X Felony.

Aurora teen charged with possession of semiautomatic weapon
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres have reported that a 15-year-old male from Aurora has been charged with possessing a loaded semiautomatic pistol. During a detention hearing, Judge Chantelle Porter ordered the juvenile to be released to his mother's custody under home detention. The charges include one count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, classified as a Class 4 Felony, and one count of Misdemeanor Possession of Ammunition without a FOID Card.

Chicago man remains free as judge denies detention request
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Lombard Chief of Police Tom Wirsing have announced that Judge Joshua Dieden has denied the state's motion to detain a Chicago man, Michael Howard, before trial. Howard is accused of fleeing from police after allegedly stealing $837.82 worth of alcohol from a Mariano's grocery store in Lombard.

Pre-trial release denied for man with altered weapon
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Westmont Chief of Police James Gunther announced that Judge Michael Reidy has denied pre-trial release for Canutie Collins, a 20-year-old from Westmont. Collins is accused of possessing a loaded firearm modified to function as a fully automatic weapon. He faces charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Machine Gun (Class X Felony) and Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle (Class 2 Felony). His co-defendant, Mathias Henyard, 18, from Chicago, also appeared in court charged with Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.
