DuPage County Council on Strengthening the System for Mental Health and Substance Use Care met April 22

a. DuPage County Mental Health Summit 

i. Proposed Time, Date, and Location - September 7, 2024, from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. in the DuPage County Auditorium. 

ii. Proposed Schedule for the Summit 

10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. – Opening remarks and opening speaker 

11:00 a.m. -11:15 a.m. – Small break  

11:15 a.m. -12:00 p.m. – Breakouts and workshops 

12:00 p.m. -12:15 p.m. – Small break  

12:15 p.m. -1:00 p.m. – Breakouts and workshops

1:00 p.m. -2:00 p.m. – Keynote speaker and closing remarks

iii. Expo Fair Participants – Initial List 

1. DuPage County Housing Authority, DuPage PADS, People’s Resource Center, Linden Oaks, GlenOaks, DuPage County Bar Association, Judicial Representatives Regarding the Mental Illness Court Alternative Program, Process, and Eligibility 

iv. Marketing Strategy – Initial Ideas 

1. Social Media, Mailers, Website 

v. Speakers – Initial Recommendations 

1. Mike Wood – Currently in long-term recovery and works as an outreach coordinator at a treatment center 

2. Felicia Miceli – lost her son to an overdose and helped the General Assembly pass a bill in his name to create a drug education curriculum for schools 

3. Staff is looking into Michael Phelps, Common, and Chance the Rapper

vi. Topics for Breakout Sessions 

1. Tours of the resources on the County Campus, Youth Prevention (preschool-high school), Managing Mental Health for Seniors, Navigating the Mental Health System for Parents with Children Over 18
