Bloomingdale has 8 licensed child care sites in 2025, DCFS data shows

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services reported that Bloomingdale had eight licensed child care sites in 2025. The agency's data tracks local providers.

Of these providers, 6 operated as day care centers (75%) and 2 were group day care homes (25%).

Local child care businesses in Bloomingdale enroll children from infancy through age 12, including infants, toddlers, preschool and school-age kids.

All of Bloomingdale's child care providers deliver services in English.

Across Illinois, there were 8,602 licensed child care facilities operating in 2025.

On Jan. 6, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services froze federal child care and family assistance funding for California, Colorado, Minnesota, New York and Illinois citing fraud and misuse concerns. Nearly $2.4 billion in Child Care and Development Fund grants, $7.35 billion in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, and $869 million from Social Services Block Grants are being held until states provide required documentation.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker criticized this decision, describing it as "wrong and cruel" and suggested the state might contest the freeze, highlighting that Illinois already maintains anti-fraud measures.

State officials said the funding freeze could impact about 100,000 families and over 152,000 children receiving benefits from the Child Care Assistance Program, along with financial support for thousands of licensed providers and 275 human service agencies.
