Woodridge School District 68 announces registration deadlines and back-to-school updates for 2026-27
Woodridge School District 68 has announced important updates and deadlines for families as preparations begin for the 2026-27 school year, with returning student registration required by July 31. Students not registered by this date will be removed from the roster and must re-enroll as new students. Registration is available through PowerSchool Enrollment, accessible via the Parent Portal, and student Chromebooks will automatically open a registration tab for convenience at home.
The district reports that the Parent Portal will be temporarily unavailable starting August 1 while preparations for the new school year are underway. The portal, which includes fee payment and meal balances, will reopen on August 10 for junior high class schedules and on August 14 for elementary teacher assignments. During this period, students will still be able to log in to their district-issued Chromebooks, but not all educational sites and resources will be fully functional until the first day of school. Students are reminded to bring their fully charged Chromebook, charger, and case on the first day. Kindergarten students will receive Chromebooks in mid-September, while students entering grades 1 and 5, as well as new students in grades 1-8, will be issued new devices at the start of the year upon return of their current equipment.
Families are encouraged to review eligibility for the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. Students approved for free or reduced-price meals during the previous school year will receive a 30-day carryover period as new applications are processed. Additional information and applications are available on the district website, and questions can be directed to the business office. The district has also partnered with TeacherLists to simplify school supply shopping, allowing families to load supply lists directly to major retailers or use printable lists while shopping in stores.
Key dates for the start of the school year include August 10 for junior high class schedules and locker assignments, August 13 for Link Day, August 14 for elementary teacher assignments and bus routes, August 18 for open house and orientation events, and August 19 for the first day of school, which will be a half-day for students. The district also reminds families of required health documentation for certain grade levels, as mandated by Illinois School Code. A free preschool program is available for district residents aged 3-5, with enrollment by screening and priority given to those with the highest need.
The PowerSchool mobile app will be discontinued for district families beginning July 30 due to limited functionality. Families are encouraged to use the web-based Parent Portal for the most complete and up-to-date access to student information.
