Schaumburg is commemorating its 70th anniversary this summer with a special exhibit and a series of community events, according to a recent update from the Village of Schaumburg on July 10. The exhibit, titled "Celebrating Schaumburg's Past, Present and Future: A 70th Anniversary & America 250 Exhibit," is open through September 30 at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd. Developed in partnership with the library, the free exhibit traces the village's transformation from a small farming community to a regional hub. Visitors can view historic photographs, artifacts, memorabilia, community stories, and selections from the recently opened Clock Tower Time Capsule. The exhibit also highlights America's 250th anniversary by focusing on shared values such as community, opportunity, innovation, and civic pride. A commemorative video is available for viewing, and more information about the yearlong celebration can be found on the village website.

The village has introduced a new solicitor badge design to enhance resident safety. The updated badges now include a photo of the licensed solicitor, making it easier for residents to verify authorization. Residents can check which companies are approved to solicit in Schaumburg by visiting the online solicitation calendar. The village advises residents not to share personal information with unbadged solicitors and to contact the Schaumburg Police Department if they feel uncomfortable.

The SuccessPath leadership program recently graduated its tenth cohort, featuring six employees from various departments. Over nine months, participants balanced their regular duties while developing leadership skills through coaching and collaboration. Village Manager Brian Townsend provided guidance, emphasizing the village's commitment to fostering future leaders who reflect its core values of trust, integrity, respect, teamwork, and customer service. The graduates are Melissa Jacobsen, Travis McKelvie, Joe Velna, Arein Kalic, Sean Casey, and Adam Wis.

Several community events are scheduled for July and August. Schaumburg Live! @ 90N returns on July 15 at 90 North Park, featuring performances by the Schaumburg Youth Jazz Orchestra and the band No Limit, along with local food vendors. The Summer Breeze concert series begins July 11 at the Al Larson Cultural Center, with performances by Hillbilly Rockstarz and other groups. Senior picnics will be held at Volkening Lake on July 16 and August 20, and the annual National Night Out block parties are set for August 4, with registration open until July 24.

Construction projects continue in the village, including the Braintree Drive Improvement Project and ongoing work on McConnor Parkway. Motorists are encouraged to follow detour signage and allow extra travel time. Access to businesses along McConnor Parkway remains open, with sidewalk and lane closures in effect during construction.

The village also reminds residents about pool safety, offers CPR classes, and encourages participation in the upcoming Community Blood Drive on July 14 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The virtual assistant "Serena Says" is available 24/7 on the village website to help residents access services and information.
