North Central and North Park have advanced to the final of the 2025 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Soccer Championship, following their victories in Wednesday’s semifinal matches.
Top-seeded North Central defeated Wheaton 4-0, marking its fifth consecutive appearance in the conference title match. Mackenzie Loomis scored first for North Central in the 11th minute. Gabriella Mattio followed with two goals just over a minute apart midway through the first half. Madison DeVriendt, Kara Waishwell, and Carly Campbell provided assists as North Central established a 3-0 lead by halftime.
The Cardinals registered 28 shots with 15 on goal, limiting Wheaton to six shots and one on target. DeVriendt added another goal early in the second half from an assist by Jordan Lange. North Central also had a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks. Wheaton goalkeeper Leah Roe made 10 saves, while Lily Mattison of North Central needed only one save for a shutout.
Second-seeded North Park secured a spot in its first-ever championship final with a 2-1 win over Elmhurst. Emilie Østlyngen gave North Park an early lead five minutes into the match. Elmhurst equalized when Katelyn Guolla converted a pass from Lauren Nevins and Emily Herlihy midway through the first half. The opening period ended with North Park holding a slight edge in shots.
The decisive goal came in the 65th minute when Caroline Sjøstedt scored for North Park, assisted by Sofia Svensson and Maja Applequist. The Vikings finished with a 17-8 advantage in total shots and outshot Elmhurst 10-3 after halftime. Both goalkeepers, Paige MacRitchie for North Park and Erin Fitzharris for Elmhurst, recorded four saves each during the match, which saw Elmhurst lead corner kicks by eight to four.
North Central will face North Park for the CCIW women’s soccer title on Saturday at 5 p.m.
