Carthage College athletes AJ Landorf and Taydin Murphy have been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Swimming & Diving Student-Athletes of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office on Tuesday.

Landorf achieved several personal records at the Calvin Quad Invitational. He recorded his best times in the 100 backstroke (52.76 seconds) and 200 backstroke (1:59.12), both of which are currently the fastest in the CCIW this season. Landorf also set a personal record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.16 seconds and contributed notable relay splits, including a 50.91-second butterfly leg in the 400 medley relay and a 23.03-second split in the 200 medley relay. Additionally, he swam a season-best 200 individual medley at 1:56.30, leading all conference swimmers by several seconds, and started off the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 1:48.26.

Murphy excelled in diving events held in Grand Rapids, winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. He earned scores of 410.20 on the 1-meter board and 381.30 on the 3-meter board over eleven dives, results that are close to his career bests from last year’s CCIW Championships.

The weekly honors for swimming and diving recognize outstanding performances among student-athletes within the conference throughout the season.

“AJ Landorf delivered multiple lifetime-best performances and posted the league’s top times in the backstroke and individual medley at the Calvin Quad Invitational, while Murphy swept the diving competition with a pair of near-career-best scores on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards,” stated the CCIW league office.

The list of previous honorees this season includes Michael Garland and Lucas Rettig from Augustana for swimming, as well as Carson Sehy from Carthage for diving.
