Four football players have been recognized for their performances in last Saturday’s College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) games. North Central’s Donovan McNeal was named Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week, while Illinois Wesleyan’s Ian Whitaker and North Park’s DJ Johnson shared Co-Defensive honors. Myles Walton, also from North Central, earned the Special Teams award.
Donovan McNeal rushed 16 times for 125 yards and scored two touchdowns during North Central's 64-7 victory over Carroll. His rushing yards were accumulated in the first three quarters of the game. According to the CCIW, "The sophomore from Waukegan, Ill. leads the league with 726 rushing yards in 2025."
Ian Whitaker had a notable performance for Illinois Wesleyan at Augustana by recording a career-high 11 tackles and four tackles for loss. He also forced a fumble with a strip sack. The CCIW stated, "Whitaker’s 11 tackles, the most by a Titan this season, were eight solo stops and six assisted. His 4.0 TFLs were a career high."
DJ Johnson contributed to North Park's win over Carthage by returning an interception 59 yards for a touchdown. He finished with five total tackles, two pass breakups, and one quarterback hurry.
Myles Walton made an impact on special teams for North Central with a 51-yard punt return touchdown against Carroll. He totaled three punt returns for 76 yards in that game.
The CCIW also listed previous recipients of its weekly football awards throughout the season across offensive, defensive, and special teams categories.
