North Central College junior Ethan Spacht has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week. The announcement was made by the CCIW on Tuesday.
Spacht, who is ranked 12th nationally at 133 pounds, claimed first place in the gold division at the Pointer Open held last Saturday in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He went undefeated with a 5-0 record during the tournament.
In his opening match, Spacht pinned Kolton Ploughe from Manchester University in 1 minute and 31 seconds. He then secured an 18-1 technical fall against Simon Moreno of Wisconsin-Parkside to advance to the quarterfinals. There, he achieved his second pin of the day by defeating Cael Morrow from Minnesota State Mankato in 2 minutes and 46 seconds.
Spacht continued his strong performance in the semifinals with a 4-0 decision over Chase Beckett, who is ranked 13th in Division II and also wrestles for Minnesota State Mankato. In the championship match, Spacht won a 5-0 decision against Matthew Chi of Wisconsin-Parkside, who is ranked 14th nationally.
