Illinois Wesleyan University's women's volleyball team has won the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Regular Season Championship for the second consecutive year. This marks the first time in program history that the Titans have achieved back-to-back regular season titles. The victory came after a four-set win over Carroll University on Wednesday, October 29, with set scores of 20-25, 25-22, 25-11, and 25-22.
With this win, Illinois Wesleyan improved its record to 21 wins and 2 losses overall, remaining undefeated in conference play at 7-0. Carroll University now holds a record of 15-13 overall and is 3-4 in CCIW matches.
The match was also notable for senior Taylor French breaking the school's all-time kills record. French recorded her 1,778th career kill at the end of the third set, surpassing former player and current assistant coach Tyler White (formerly Brown). French achieved this milestone against Carroll University—the same opponent White faced when setting the previous record during the 2018 season.
Junior Eleanor Palmer contributed significantly to Illinois Wesleyan's offense with ten kills and a .563 hitting percentage. She also registered four total blocks—two solo and two assisted. Sophomore Alex Bardouniotis matched French's team-high of thirteen kills, completed a double-double with fourteen digs, and tied for most service aces with four.
Freshman Carly Whitaker and junior Cailin Shannon each finished with six kills without recording any errors. Freshman Lauren O'Brien had a career-high twenty-nine assists along with four digs. Junior Sophia Feeney added sixteen assists, four aces, and seven digs. Senior Kannyn Boyd led the team defensively with seventeen digs.
Illinois Wesleyan outperformed Carroll in several statistical categories: they had more kills (53 to 41), assists (49 to 37), and service aces (10 to 9).
"Taylor French broke the program's all-time kills record as she notched her 1,778th kill to end the third set, surpassing now-assistant coach Tyler White (nee Brown). In déjà vu fashion, French broke the record against the same team that White claimed the kills crown, as the latter did so against the Pios during the 2018 campaign."
