North Central favored to win CCIW men’s wrestling championship for fourth consecutive year

North Central has been selected as the favorite to win the 2025-26 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Wrestling Championship, according to the annual preseason coaches’ poll released Wednesday.

The Cardinals received nine first-place votes and a total of 81 points in the poll. North Central has maintained a strong record, winning 57 consecutive CCIW duals since February 2, 2017. The team secured its third straight CCIW Championship last February with 169 team points and has won five of the last eight league titles since 2018, totaling 11 championships overall.

In addition to their conference standing, North Central was ranked tenth nationally in a preseason poll by the National Wrestling Coaches' Association (NWCA).

Millikin was picked second in the poll with one first-place vote and 72 points. Millikin has finished as runner-up at each of the last three CCIW Championships. MSOE placed third with 57 points, followed by Aurora with 54 points and Elmhurst with 50.

Augustana took sixth place with 46 points. Carthage earned seventh place with 35 points, Wheaton eighth with 23, Concordia Wisconsin ninth with 20, and Illinois Wesleyan rounded out the list in tenth place with 12 points. Illinois Wesleyan is entering its third season as a varsity program.

The upcoming CCIW Men’s Wrestling Championship will be held on Saturday, February 14, at Carthage’s Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
