The Village of Westmont Environmental Improvement Committee is organizing another electronics and recycling event in partnership with eWorks, Flat Can Recycling, and DuPage County. The event will take place on Saturday, November 22, from 8 a.m. to noon in the commuter parking lot across from Westmont Village Hall at 31 W. Quincy Street.

This recycling initiative is open to the public and aims to offer a way for community members to dispose of various items responsibly. Most items can be dropped off without charge, but some require a fee. Commercial drop-offs are not allowed.

Accepted materials include televisions and computer monitors for a fee based on size, with payment options available onsite or through online pre-payment via the eWorks website. Other electronic devices such as computers, keyboards, modems, cable boxes, gaming consoles, printers, tablets, mobile devices, and more can be recycled free of charge.

Additional items accepted by eWorks at no cost include textiles like drapes and linens; clothing (with shoes tied together); books; magazines; paper; and tollway transponders—a new addition for 2025.

Flat Can Recycling will collect aerosol cans ($1 each), one-pound propane tanks ($4 each), household batteries ($4 per pound), infant and children’s car seats ($10 per seat), Balloon Time pink helium tanks ($10 per tank—new this year), Power Wheels or similar brand children’s cars with battery ($20 each—new this year), plastic high chairs ($10 each—new this year), smoke & CO2 detectors ($1 each—new this year), plastic tricycles ($10 each—new this year), and latex paints (fees vary by container size).

Participants are directed to enter the commuter parking lot at 31 W. Quincy Street where staff and volunteers will guide them through the process. Attendees may remain in their vehicles during collection.

For more information about accepted items or fees for specific products at the event, residents are encouraged to visit the eWorks website or Flat Can Recycling website. Information about other local recycling events is available at scarce.org.
