FOIA Request to DuPage County regarding tax relief requests for veterans with disabilities on June 10, 2025.
A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to DuPage County by the DuPage Policy Journal, seeking detailed records concerning property tax relief applications and exemptions for veterans with disabilities. The request, sent on June 10, 2025, aims to gather information on individuals who have applied for or received various forms of tax relief from the year 2024 to the present.
The specific records requested include:
1. Documents identifying individuals who requested or received Property Tax Relief as a Veteran with a Disability or as a Surviving Spouse of a Disabled Veteran.
2. Records of those who applied for or were granted a Specially Adapted Housing Exemption for Veterans with Disabilities, in accordance with Illinois statute 35 ILCS 200/15-165.
3. Documentation of applicants and recipients of the Standard Homestead Exemption for Veterans with Disabilities under statute 35 ILCS 200/15-169.
4. Information on those who sought or obtained a Returning Veteran’s Homestead Exemption as per statute 35 ILCS 200/15-172.
