Dan Proft, co-host of AM 560 The Answer, said the University of Illinois Chicago’s response to antisemitism rang hollow after reports that the suspect in the murders of two Israeli embassy employees previously attended the university.
"Since the alleged assassin of the two Israeli embassy employees did his undergrad work in antisemitism at UIC, now comes the pro forma HR-generated SocialJusticeSpeak statement," said Proft, Radio host, political commentator and activist. "At UIC, we condemn antisemitism. Come now. Do you really?UIC."
The suspect, Elias Rodriguez, a 30-year-old from Chicago, was identified in connection with the killings of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim. According to CBS News, Rodriguez was observed pacing outside a museum before approaching a group, drawing a handgun, and shooting Lischinsky and Milgrim. He subsequently entered the museum where security apprehended him. Witnesses reported that Rodriguez shouted "Free Palestine" during his detention. The Metropolitan Police Department informed CBS that Rodriguez was not previously known to them and did not appear in initial crime database searches. He is believed to have acted independently.

Proft shared a screenshot on X featuring a message from UIC acknowledging that the individual taken into custody for the shootings was an alumnus of the university. The message said that UIC recognizes the pain and concern caused by his affiliation with the institution and condemned antisemitism, asserting there is no place for hate at UIC.
According to Proft, another screenshot indicated that the Anti-Defamation League gave UIC a failing grade in its 2025 Campus Antisemitism Report Card. This assessment referenced several incidents: an October 2023 statement by two departments supporting the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel; student protests calling for divestment from Israel-related interests in November 2023; a professor citing antisemitism as a reason for early retirement; an anti-Israel rally in September 2024 with banners reading "Victory to the Resistance"; and an October 2024 rally celebrating Hamas' attacks on Israel.
Proft is known as co-host of "Chicago’s Morning Answer" on AM 560 Chicago, airing weekdays from 5-9 a.m. A former Republican candidate for Illinois governor, he attended Northwestern University and earned his J.D. from Loyola University-Chicago.
