DuPage County taxpayers paid just under $68.1 million in County Share of RTA Sales Tax in 2023, according to Illinois tax records.

This figure marks a noticeable increase over the previous year, when County Share of RTA Sales Tax collection stood at approximately $67 million.

The County Share of RTA Sales Tax, a crucial revenue stream, is primarily allocated for other taxing jurisdictions' use.

As of 2021, Illinois was the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes were 39.83% higher than the national average.
