Rep. Sean Casten, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 6th district, has recently taken to social media to express concerns regarding Elon Musk's access to Treasury payment systems and US citizens' private data. Casten's tweets reflect his legislative efforts and appeals for bipartisan support in Congress.

On February 11, 2025, Rep. Casten tweeted about the anxiety among his constituents over "Elon Musk's access to Treasury payment systems." He shared that he had relayed these concerns in the House and urged his GOP colleagues to back his bill aimed at preventing such access. "My office has been flooded with stories from people terrified of how Elon Musk's access to Treasury payment systems may hurt our community."

The following day, on February 12, 2025, Casten announced via Twitter that he had introduced a bill alongside Rep. Haley Stevens intended to restrict Elon Musk from accessing private data of US citizens. He called upon three House Republicans to oppose both Donald Trump and Elon Musk for the sake of the American public.
