FOIA Request to DuPage County Clerk Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our continued commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the DuPage Policy Journal have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request is for records detailing all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The specific information sought includes each candidate's first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation. Additionally, we have requested contact information for each candidate, including their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
