A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to Lake Park Community High School District 108 regarding emails and memos from the past year. The request, sent by us at DuPage Policy Journal on January 28, 2025, specifically asked for documents containing the keywords "Lucy Calkins" and "Units of Study".

As a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

In line with this commitment, we have requested these records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. We have also requested that these records be provided in an electronic format for ease of dissemination.

According to the Illinois Report Card, the average state teacher salary in 2023 was $73,916, while the state average Administrative Salary stood at $116,908. The report also indicated that the average student-to-administrative ratio is 141:1 and the average student-to-teacher ratio is 17:1. Interestingly, it was found that 58% of teachers in Illinois hold a master's degree or higher.
