The Illinois House has adopted its parliamentary rules for the 104th General Assembly. The decision was made on Tuesday, with all Republican members voting against the measure. The adopted rules closely resemble those previously used by former House Speaker Michael Madigan, who is currently facing trial for charges including racketeering, bribery, and corruption.

Republicans argue that these rules suppress the voices of over 4 million residents represented by their party across Illinois.

"These rules stifle the voices of more than 4 million Illinoisans represented by Republicans statewide."

The decision to continue using similar guidelines as in previous assemblies under Madigan's leadership has sparked debate among lawmakers.
