Rep. Sean Casten, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Illinois' 6th district, has shared a series of tweets highlighting his legislative efforts and commemorations. Born in Dublin, Ireland, Casten has been an active member of Congress since replacing Peter Roskam in 2019.
On December 12, 2024, Rep. Casten tweeted about the introduction of the Financial Empowerment and Protection Act with Rep. Beatty. He stated: "Far too often, we hear stories of victims of abuse who feel trapped due to limited or no insight into their household finances. Rep. Beatty and I introduced the Financial Empowerment and Protection Act to help victims regain financial independence."
Later that day on December 12, he mentioned a partnership with fellow representatives to increase funding for ATF HQ: "ICYMI: Last week, I partnered with @RepDean and @RepLucyMcBath to increase funding for ATF HQ. Such an increase would support the Agency’s critical work in preventing and responding to gun crime."
On December 13, 2024, Casten marked the second anniversary of a significant legislative milestone: "Today, we honor the second anniversary of the Respect for Marriage Act being signed into law. This law enshrined justice, dignity and respect for all Americans regardless of who you love."
