Rep. Sean Casten, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 6th district, recently took to social media to discuss procedural aspects related to his resolution aimed at releasing the Gaetz Report. His series of tweets highlighted concerns over the handling of allegations and the potential outcomes of legislative maneuvers.

On December 5, 2024, Rep. Casten explained that "House procedure can be wonky," prompting him to outline what might transpire regarding his resolution to release the Gaetz Report. He introduced this discussion as part of a short thread "House procedure can be wonky, so let’s discuss what might happen TODAY on my resolution to release the Gaetz Report."

Continuing on the same day, he announced his intention to request a recorded vote on his motion. Casten expressed concern that if Republican Leadership's motion passed, it would result in sweeping credible allegations of sexual misconduct under the rug. Conversely, if their motion failed, it would lead to debate on the resolution "I’ll request a recorded vote on this motion."

In another tweet posted simultaneously, Casten cautioned against being misled by procedural moves such as resolutions being moved for later consideration or sent back for further work in committee settings. He characterized these actions as mere procedural tools intended to bury issues rather than address them effectively "Don’t let them fool you."
