Rep. Sean Casten, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois' 6th district, has recently taken to social media to express his stance on the accountability of congressional members facing serious allegations. His comments are particularly focused on the case involving Matt Gaetz.

On December 3, 2024, Rep. Casten stated that "Resigning from Congress should not allow Members to avoid accountability for allegations as serious as those faced by Matt Gaetz." He emphasized the role of the Ethics Committee in releasing reports on former members and announced his intention to force a vote on releasing the Gaetz Report.

Continuing his advocacy, Rep. Casten tweeted again on December 5, 2024: "If they do not, I’ll raise my resolution to force the release of the Gaetz Report on the House Floor during the 4:45 PM ET vote series."

In another tweet posted on December 5, he remarked that "First and foremost, the House Ethics Committee is expected to meet shortly and could release the report themselves." He urged that if integrity is valued within the House of Representatives, this action should be taken.
