State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro (R – Hanover Park) has announced the enactment of a new law in Illinois, which she co-sponsored. This legislation designates October as Italian-American Heritage Month in the state.
Starting this October 2024, the month will be dedicated to celebrating and acknowledging the contributions of Italian-Americans to American history and culture. The new law aims to highlight the achievements of Italian-Americans throughout history.
Representative Sanalitro shared her thoughts on the legislation: “I am truly proud to witness the recognition of Italian-American heritage in our state. Octobers in Illinois will not just be a celebration of the Italian American experience, but an inspiration for future generations of Italian-Americans to continue making Illinois the best state it can be.”
She encourages residents and all Illinoisans to engage in events and activities that honor the rich history and vibrant culture of Italian-Americans.
