DuPage County Legislative Committee met March 26

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

1. CALL TO ORDER 

Meeting was called to order by Chair Dawn DeSart at 11:30 AM. 

2. ROLL CALL 

Additional Board Members present: Member Paula Deacon Garcia, Member Patty Gustin, Member Sheila Rutledge, Member Lucy Evans, and Member Yeena Yoo. 

Staff present: Sheryl Markay (Chief Policy & Program Officer), Jason Blumenthal (Policy & Program Manager), Conor McCarthy (State's Attorney's Office), Mary Keating (Community  Services Director) and Evan Shields (Public Information Officer). 

PRESENT Chaplin, Childress, DeSart, Eckhoff, and Zay 

ABSENT Galassi 

3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

4. PUBLIC COMMENT 

No public comment received. 

5. CHAIR'S REMARKS - CHAIR DESART 

Chair DeSart stated that she made her remarks during the County Board meeting. 

6. ACTION ITEMS 

6.A. 24-0997 

Action Item - Key Bill List 3-26-2024 

Sheryl Markay briefly reviewed the bill list document and provided updates of each bill's progress. Multiple members asked questions and Ms. Markay answered.  

Member Jim Zay raised concerns over SB3680 Local Crime-Free Housing Ordinance and requested additional information. 

Member Yeena Yoo voiced her disappointment in hearing that HB4469/SB2633, Protection of Domestic Violence victims has stalled and mentioned two related bills: HB4753 Case Review - Homicide Victims and HB4754 Uniform Crime Report - Homicides. 

RESULT: ACCEPTED
