Q2 2022 Recap: 12 parolees from Dupage County convicted of drug crimes set for release

There were 12 offenders convicted of drug crimes living in Dupage County released on parole during the second quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.

The data shows all of the released offenders among the parolees were men. Of the parolees sentenced for drug crimes, one was a veteran, and the median age was 42. The youngest parolee was a 24-year-old man sentenced in 2022, and the oldest was a 56-year-old man sentenced in 2018.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Lorne Barnes. He was convicted in 2018 when he was 51 years old. He is now 56.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of drug crimes were paroled during the second quarter of 2022 in each Illinois county.
