Freshman state Rep. Jennifer Sanalitro (R-Bloomingdale) is touting the progress of two bills she is sponsoring.

The bills are HB2094 and HB3202, both intended to benefit consumers.

"I am thrilled that my bills are advancing in the legislative process," Sanalito said in a press release. "Being a new member, I have to learn the ins-and-outs so this early success is certainly special. I will continue to work hard to see that these and my other proposals become law. I also look forward to finding common ground with members from all parts of Illinois that find themselves in this 103rd General Assembly.”

HB2094 is a consumer rights bill that passed unanimously out of the Consumer Protection Committee and will next be heard on the House floor if taken up.

The bill “Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Provides that any marketing materials from a mortgage company not connected to the consumer's mortgage company must comply with specified requirements,” the bill’s synopsis reads.

HB3202 was placed on the calendar for a second reading in the Insurance Committee. The bill amends the Accident and Health Article of the Illinois Insurance Code.

The bill “Provides that an individual or group policy of accident and health insurance that is amended, delivered, issued, or renewed on or after Jan. 1, 2025 shall cover a medically necessary home saliva cancer screening every 24 months," the bill’s synopsis reads.

HB 3202 would also allow conforming changes in the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971, the Counties Code, the Illinois Municipal Code, the School Code, the Health Maintenance Organization Act, the Limited Health Service Organization Act, the Voluntary Health Services Plans Act, and the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code.

If enacted, the bill that would mandate that insurance companies cover home saliva cancer screenings.

Sanalitro was elected in November to represent the 48th House District. She is a mother and a sales executive who ran on a platform of reducing crime and opposing the "Defund the Police" movement. Sanalitro was endorsed by many local leaders across DuPage County.
