The DuKane chapter of ABATE of Illinois congratulated Jennifer Sanalitro (R) on her win in the 48th House District.
"Congratulations to Jennifer Sanalitro on being elected as Illinois State Representative in the 48th district in yesterday’s election," the group said on Facebook. "She will work for motorcyclists in DuPage and Kane County and we look forward to working together!"
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Sanalitro leads Democrat Azam Nizamuddin with 57% of the vote with almost 70% of the vote counted. Sanalitro has 15,511votes compared to Nizamuddin's 11,579 votes. These results are from DuPage County; it has reported 95% of the vote in this race while Cook County has not reported any votes in this race.
Sanalitro is a mother and a sales executive who ran on a platform of reducing crime and opposing the "Defund the Police" movement. She promotes more funding and training for the police.
She opposes the SAFE-T Act which is set to take effect on Jan. 1.
"The Safe-T Act is not safe at all...I am calling on the General Assembly to repeal this law, bring all stakeholders to the table, and collaboratively work through effective and sensible solutions to the unprecedented increase in criminal brazenness overtaking our communities," she said in a previous statement.
Sanalitro was endorsed by many local leaders across DuPage County.
State Rep. Seth Lewis (R-Bartlett) said, "Jennifer Sanalitro is a dedicated and hardworking community advocate with the power to get things done for DuPage residents in Springfield...She has my full endorsement."
Carol Stream Mayor Frank Saverino, Sr. also endorsed her saying, "Jennifer Sanalitro wants what all of us want, public safety for our families and protecting and funding our courageous police force."
She also gained Wayne Township Trustee Mark Hoyert's endorsement.
"Jennifer will fight for lower taxes, be a strong advocate for local businesses, empower parents to help them make the best decisions on how and what their children are being taught, and she will stand with law enforcement to keep our communities safe," Hoyert said.
Bartlett Village President Kevin Wallace and DuPage County Board Member Jim Zay also endorsed Sanalitro for state representative.
