The Jennifer Bruzan Taylor campaign has issued the following press release:

NAPERVILLE, IL – Today, Jennifer Bruzan Taylor launched her campaign for state representative in the 41st District, which encompasses portions of DuPage and Will counties.

“Too often in Springfield, political bickering takes precedence over resolving the issues families face every day,” stated Taylor. “I’m running for state representative to refocus the time wasted from fighting each other to making Illinois safer for our children and communities and strengthening our economy. As a former prosecutor, I understand the importance of fact-based decision-making, and I am committed to researching all decisions, reviewing facts, and speaking to residents and local stakeholders, ensuring their voices are heard.”

Jennifer started her career in patent litigation, transitioned to clerking for the Presiding Judge of the Criminal Courts of Cook County, and actively assisted in the creation of the Veterans and Youth Offenders Courts, a place for non-violent offenders to receive services and earn their degrees in order to discourage recidivism. Her ability to think outside the box served her well in her next role as a prosecutor in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Not only did she work to put hardened criminals away, she also held accountable those who abused and/or neglected children in the Child Protection Division. In this role, she worked with the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) and saw first-hand the inadequacies of the current system. Jennifer was able to share her professional knowledge with the next generation when she taught Constitutional Law as an adjunct professor at North Central College.

Running on a platform to promote small businesses, protect public safety, and pursue responsible development, Jennifer won her current seat on the Naperville City Council. In her time on City Council, Jennifer has successfully worked to find common ground among opposing parties on controversial issues. She has voted to improve Naperville’s infrastructure, supported increasing training and resources for first responders, and pushed for policies that help local businesses and make Naperville more environmentally friendly in a fiscally sound manner. It is these efforts that reinforces Naperville’s reputation as a safe, fiscally sound community that routinely is voted one of the best places to raise a family.

Jennifer graduated from Vanderbilt University with her Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Women’s Studies and a minor in Psychology, and was the first in her family to go to college. She then earned her Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School. Jennifer worked multiple jobs to put herself through school, and understands the value of hard work and holding to a budget.

Jennifer is running as a Republican and resides in Naperville with her husband Matt, their three children, and their rescued dog and two cats.
