BLOOMINGDALE PARK DISTRICT: Museum to reopen March 20

Open

Bloomingdale Park District issued the following announcement on Feb 25.

The Bloomingdale Park District Museum is pleased to announce its re-opening with an exhibit titled “Parodies of Painting Masterworks,” beginning March 20.

The exhibition features several hundred examples of well-known fine art paintings, altered, taken out of context, and re-used in cartoon strips, appropriated for other art pieces, etc. The show is organized by artist, with a copy of an original painting accompanied by other works which parody that original.

Included are references to Van Gogh, Grant Wood, Picasso, Hopper, Monet, Seurat, Whistler, and more. A major part of the exhibition uses the familiar image of Mona Lisa. Along with many commercial interpretations, the exhibit also displays an original large acrylic painting by noted Chicago artist Tom Palazzolo. It is titled “Mona From Mars and my Missing Sox.”

The show runs March 20 through April 24. Exhibit hours are 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesdays; and noon to 4 p.m., Thursdays and Saturdays.

Please note: Masks and six feet social distancing is required. The maximum number of Museum visitors is 24 at one time.
