Those looking forward to the first Naperville Salute Fourth of July celebration will have to wait a year as COVID-19 concerns have forced its postponement.

The two-day event was to be a replacement for the Naperville Exchange Club's Ribfest. It is unknown whether Ribfest, which moved to Romeoville, will push forward.

Back in Naperville, a fireworks show is still a go at the moment. A new release obtained by the Daily Herald said, “The fireworks will feature a higher altitude display from a to-be-determined location to maximize residential viewing and encourage social distancing.”

Naperville Salute Fourth of July was to have local entertainment, a food festival, and a family fun area. Event officials anticipate next year’s Salute Fourth of July to go on as scheduled.
