Q4 2019 Recap: Parolees near Illinois zip code 60148 convicted of crimes against children

There were two offenders convicted of crimes against children released on parole near Illinois zip code 60148 during the fourth quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.

The data shows that both of the released offenders in 60148 were men. The younger parolee was a 36-year-old man sentenced in 2017. The other was a 68-year-old man sentenced in 2013.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Sebastian Mendoza. He was convicted of a crime against one or more children in 2013 when he was 61 years old. He is now 68.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
