July-Dec. 2019 Recap: Parolees in Aurora convicted of crimes involving weapons

There were 14 offenders convicted of crimes involving weapons released on parole in Aurora during the second half of 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.

The data shows that 12 men and two women were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving weapons, one is a veteran, and the median age is 30. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 53-year-old woman sentenced in 2014.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Jason S. Reardon. He was convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2004 when he was 21 years old. He is now 36.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
